The old town with its complicated spaces brings atmosphere to the living environment. In this flat, architect Linas Šepetys combines modern solutions and bright highlights suggesting a classical style. The space flooded with light creates a Mediterranean mood, which is enhanced by an elegant lamp in the centre and original décor of the fireplace.

NEITHER INSIDE, NOR OUTSIDE

Clear boundaries between the inside and the outside are disappearing in architecture. Traditional interior elements steadily replace wooden benches and static lights in plots and terraces: carpets, curtains, settees and mobile floor-lamps. Yet the harsh weather conditions in winter make people hide all this under a glass roof.

A Luxurious Decorative Effect

Several years ago this flat belonged to the director of the French Cultural Centre and emanated French sentimentality full of things and personal details. Nothing from that former identity has remained now. Young designers Eglė Kurlianskaitė and Indrė Mylytė-Sinkevičienė have not changed the plan, but have created a contemporary mood.

Reflections of Nature

One of the greatest values of contemporary living spaces is their openness and connection to nature. Large glass walls visually enlarging the space create an opportunity to enjoy the changing colours and light of the seasons. In this case, architects Tomas Grunskis and Rasa Šimatonytė allow the view behind the window inside the interior. It becomes the main decorative feature connecting the spaces of the flat.

Young architect Albertas Lagunovičius has chosen the idea of a modern and easily transformable space for his apartment in an original newly built block of flats. He has created a vision of a contemporary interior.
