| Like Luxurious Chocolate |
Nr. 3 (114) |
Brown motifs of various shades dominate this interior, which reminds of luxurious black chocolate. Architects Irma Malcienė and Sigitas Žukas started creating this interior in an already built house. The owners requested an original interior, thus, the architects suggested changing the original plan completely. When most partitions were demolished, a beautiful space opened up. On the ground floor, they designed an open common space, and the first floor is more private: it contains children’s bedrooms, their bathroom and the master bedroom zone with the cloakroom, a spacious bathroom as well as a studio. The architects have a well-established style. Effective circular stairs seem to have dictated the idea to use the motif of circles in the house: round toilet facilities for guests with a mosaic on external and internal walls. A wall separates the ground floor into functional zones and hides structural columns. In the sitting room, the architects have also included a mosaic and left the central partition almost black. Lilac cushions on modern laconic furniture enliven subdued tones. This colour moves into the dining zone in the form of chairs. In terms of lighting, the architects have returned to round shapes: they have chosen Italian glass lamps that look as if spheres have been stuck together. When we climb the stairs to the first floor, we are astounded by many oval mirrors. The same colour range and transparent round lamps continue on the first floor. This has been particularly effective in the half-open master bathroom where the lamp descends into the bath like an avalanche of soap bubbles, the effect enhanced by a brownish grey mosaic. Thanks to the colours, the interior is marked by exceptional architectural unity. |
