Italian architect Roberto Semprini believes that the truth speaks through children as they draw what they see and instinctively feel. Children’s drawings have inspired him to create a new project for a prefab carcass house, Green Home, for Italian producers Subissati. According to him, almost all children draw similar houses because they follow the archetype: lots of greenery, including blossoming creepers to protect from wind; two large windows on the ground floor to let enough light in; one or two small windows in the loft to look at the stars. Such a house represents a guarantee of safety and stability for children.
In his Green Home project the architect has tried to materialise the dominating moods in children’s drawings and specific architectural elements. He has also had an opportunity to create not only the special structure, but also the interior.
Semprini thinks children choose rounded natural forms instinctively. This is why many abstract and realistic natural motifs can be found in this house. The stairs remind of a stone sculpture polished by water. A massive, but elegant, shower cabin with an integrated leaf-shaped wooden grid dominates the master bathroom. Natural maple legs of the dinner table look like subtly intertwined branches.
The structure of the house is simple but rational and compact. The rectangular house has only one floor and a symmetrical gabled roof. The height of the premises has been used for the sports and recreation space in the loft. The ground floor has enough room for a family of three.
Roberto Semprini is happy that he has succeeded to realise this high-quality project inexpensively and preserved the original idea of a simple but not boring home. |
